Reworking Workwear
September 13, 2024Thousands of companies supply work uniforms for their employees, and it was from this context that this collection was born: through the repurposing of discarded workwear. Items such as sweatshirts, dungarees, and accessories have been reimagined to give them new life and enhance their aesthetic appeal These garments have been thoughtfully deconstructed and reassembled, or creatively altered, to produce new pieces such as sweatshirts, skirts, tops, and shorts. Each piece retains the functional characteristics of traditional workwear, while incorporating the unique urban style crafted by the designer. Upcycling Polyester
September 6, 2024This selection of garments comes from the same material: printable polyester for banners, which has been repurposed into durable, wearable clothing. The process to achieve the final result involved constructing fashion patterns. These pieces were created between 2022 and 2023, ranging from long-sleeve shirts, sweaters, and shorts, to other garments. All were handmade, and each piece is a limited edition. The use of polyester banners in this collection highlights an innovative approach to sustainable fashion by giving a second life to materials that would otherwise contribute to waste. By upcycling industrial materials into wearable garments, this process reduces the demand for new textiles and minimizes environmental impact. Each piece, hand-constructed using traditional fashion pattern-making methods, reflects the growing movement towards slow fashion—focusing on quality, longevity, and conscious production. The uniqueness of every limited edition item emphasizes the craftsmanship and creative reuse of existing resources, underscoring a commitment to sustainability in the fashion industry. The attached images visually demonstrate the transformation of polyester into wearable art, showing the garments' bold designs and vibrant colors, which add a distinctive edge to this eco-conscious collection. How It Began…
September 6, 2024Recycling and experimentation were the key concepts that laid the foundation for Paseo030. It started as a hobby for an immigrant who had recently arrived in the city of Berlin: Luciano Cagliardi took his first steps in the craft of sewing thanks to the open textile workshop located within Haus der Statistik in late 2021. A group of designers, sewing instructors, costume designers—among other professionals—coordinate this workshop, providing the necessary resources such as sewing machines, ironing stations, tools, materials, and most importantly, the knowledge required to bring your design project to life. This is how Luciano began experimenting and learning the craft while creating new garments or customizing his own wardrobe. Understanding this practice not only as a hobby but also as a potential avenue to make sustainable fashion design a source of work, the focus shifted toward creating a platform that encompasses fashion, sustainability, art, and self-management. By the end of 2022, this project was named Paseo030 and began participating in design markets around Berlin, with the first one taking place in December 2022, where some of the garments shown in the images were exhibited. This event could be considered the opportunity for the project to be publicly introduced.
