How It Began…

September 6, 2024

Recycling and experimentation were the key concepts that laid the foundation for Paseo030. It started as a hobby for an immigrant who had recently arrived in the city of Berlin: Luciano Cagliardi took his first steps in the craft of sewing thanks to the open textile workshop located within Haus der Statistik in late 2021. A group of designers, sewing instructors, costume designers—among other professionals—coordinate this workshop, providing the necessary resources such as sewing machines, ironing stations, tools, materials, and most importantly, the knowledge required to bring your design project to life. This is how Luciano began experimenting and learning the craft while creating new garments or customizing his own wardrobe.

Understanding this practice not only as a hobby but also as a potential avenue to make sustainable fashion design a source of work, the focus shifted toward creating a platform that encompasses fashion, sustainability, art, and self-management. By the end of 2022, this project was named Paseo030 and began participating in design markets around Berlin, with the first one taking place in December 2022, where some of the garments shown in the images were exhibited. This event could be considered the opportunity for the project to be publicly introduced.
